UPFORADVENTURE :: ADRIFT

For some time Chauncey had been trying to convince me to come visit Rhode Island to do some boating and shoot his custom Honda CB550 motorcycle. With a loosely hatched plan, I was on my way to Rhode Island for 24 HRS. A quick exploration of Newport revealed an amazing landscape. - Historic Relics and million dollar mansions, butted up against the rising tide of the sea, off shoot winding roads covered in canopies of the forest; encroaching on pavement to reclaim their turf.

Of course it was the curving roads where we would have the most fun filming with the bike but the most meaning full part of the shoot was having Chauncey and his father Yves-Marie Tanton tour me around Newport, sharing the history of the town and pointing out different types of boats as we sailed the harbor. For a while Chauncey had been estranged from his father but seeing the two of them together, complimenting each other. I was almost as if an older and younger version of the same person were sitting next to me. Their reconnection as well as their individual desires to design and create became an integral part of the video.
